Last week, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) released its latest Medicare Physician Fee Schedule proposed rule, including several policies that pose a grave threat to musculoskeletal care.
If finalized, the proposal would impose additional payment cuts on independent physician practices at a time of rising costs and continued Medicare payment instability. Increased consolidation means fewer physician options, longer wait times and delayed access to care for the patients we serve.
That’s why we’re calling on CMS to pause implementation of the new proposed payment values, maintain the current 2026 values and work with physicians to develop a more stable and sustainable approach to Medicare physician payment.
